The Strength Within by Renee Kilburn – £3,500

45 cm wide and 80 cm tall
    Frost proof Ceramic
    Unique

    ‘The Strength Within’
This piece is coiled into a female shape resembling a tree with cut off branches instead of
arms. As a woman our instinct is to grow and nurture, be patient and care for those around
us, despite our circumstances and what might happen to us.

Like a tree in the forest that becomes an ecosystem for birds, insects and other animals,
even when experiencing trauma it is still a safe haven. It has an inner cyclical life force, as
    do a woman.

With all my work, I have an original idea that then might change as the build emerges and
continues. It has a life of it’s own and I am merely the facilitator.

  • Flower Bird Bath by Renee Kilburn – £3,500

Flower Bird Bath by Renee Kilburn – £3,500

46 cm wide and 75 cm tall
    Frost proof ceramic
    Unique

    ‘Flower Bird Bath’
“The flower dish is slab built while the base is coiled. All the details are hand made and
    added one by one.

My aim is to make it look as if the birdbath is growing out of the ground l with the bottom trim
resembling the soil and the leaves and flowers grow around the stem of the flower above.
The dish can be lifted off and the base has a hole in the bottom so it doesn’t fill up with
    water.”

All of Renee Kilburn Ceramics pieces are beautiful and original works of art that give joy to the owner by evoking a smile or memory of a loved one. With passion for colour and form Renée creates frost proof and non fading flowers and sculptures that bring vibrancy and colour to homes and gardens all year round.

  • A Quiet Place by Jill Desborough – £685

A Quiet Place by Jill Desborough – £685

    A Quiet Place
    Ceramic with vine tendrils
    25cm ht x 13cm width

A small sculpture that grew from the need for a safe and quiet emotional space for retreat and reflection in a very noisy and fractious world. I use rabbits sometimes in sculptural works,  partially as I have them as companions, and also they are usually extremely quiet animals so seemed appropriate for the essence of this work.

This contemporary design was inspired by an early evening walk in the South Downs. The sun and clouds gave an incredible display of colours and shapes. I sat down amongst the plants to watch the sunset and this 3 panel piece evolved from that glorious time. The shapes of the wispy white glass interspersed with the bold, colourful glass give the design a real feel of movement as the light and the seasons change around it. The strong shade of green used for the plants, offers a sense of wonder at the natural world around us. I named it Elysium as it evokes a feeling of an imaginary place with a heavenly feeling of ideal happiness and contentment.

  • Palermo by Deborah Harrison – £13,400

Palermo by Deborah Harrison – £13,400

    Palomo
    Indoor piece
    Date of release: July 2023

    Rainbow Alabaster on Soapstone
    46cm x 14cm x 16cm

    Deborah Harrison:
I use a technique called Direct Carving where I follow the form, grain, and colour of the stone. At the stone yard I could clearly see a horse’s head within this stone. It revealed itself easily as the chippings came away. I have called this horse Palomo after the tall dappled white horse ridden by Latin American liberator Simon Bolivar.  It accompanied him on most of his campaigns of national liberation. It was a gift from an elderly peasant woman named Casilda because she had had a dream of giving him to a great general. She later presented the horse to Bolivar. Palomo was Bolivar’s faithful horse on many campaigns during the liberation struggle. After a long march, Palomo tragically died in the care of one of Bolivar’s officers. Palomo appears on the Venezuelan Coin and his horseshoes are in the museum of Mulalo. The name Palomo means, ‘Dove’. In war, horses mane’s were often plated to prevent them from being entangled in the soldiers sword.

  • Entwined by Deborah Harrison – £4,000

Entwined by Deborah Harrison – £4,000

    Entwined
    Indoor sculpture
    Date completed: April 2018
    Medium: Alabaster
    Dimensions: 30cm x 30cm x 15cm

I use a technique called Direct Carving which follows the grain, form, and colour of the stone. Within this piece I could see the two intertwined spirals. On the rear there was one continuous spiral, but the two sides conflicted with one another. So, I smoothed out the rear to allow more light through the image you see on the photograph. It reminds me of the tight interdependency in close relationships. The two becoming one. It was used in the background of Sky’s programme ‘Portrait Artist of the Year 2020’.
