He sees a world where profit is placed above all else, to the detriment of 99% of the population, their environment, and the other living beings they share it with. A world where only the most voracious of psychopaths gain and hold power : a world where selfishness and greed are celebrated and encouraged. But it isn’t this that depresses him most – it is the fact that for a supposedly evolved species, we steadfastly refuse to modify our behaviour and have wilfully carried on repeating the same mistakes over and over and over again for several thousand years, all the time eagerly swallowing the lie that we’ve never had it so good. “Apart from greetings, A Hug can convey so much feeling about how you care for someone. I was recently at a funeral and there were so many people giving and receiving A Hug, silently saying I feel your pain and I care about you. If a child has hurt themselves, A Hug can quite often be enough to calm them so that you can both see what now needs doing of a practical nature. The celebratory Hug, say on the sports field, when someone has achieved something and is needing to share their elation. I didn’t discover Hugging until I had grown up and what it can transmit between humans as a totally silent experience.” – Richard Cresswell
