    “This sculpture was first commissioned as a present for a husband’s 70th birthday.  The client wanted a garden sculpture to go by the pond, with a sense of purpose and movement. They chose the name Daphne for the sculpture, inspired by Greek mythology: Daphne was a naiad, a water nymph, who was greatly loved by Apollo.”    – EJ Kemp

    “A backstory to the work: This sculpture was inspired by my oldest daughter, called Freya: she is 5years old and loves visiting my studio.  On one visit she asked me to sculpt “one of us”, so after talking it over, we decided I would sculpt one of her being swung up in the air and so here she is! This sculpture celebrates the joy that young children bring to our lives as well as the strength required to support them in their journey.”       – E J Kemp

    Unfurling depicts the wonderous potential of unfolding into something new and exciting. Largely inspired by the gorgeous verdant woodlands of the Wye Valley where Gemma lives.
    Organic, intricate designs are cut out of the brushed steel creating a lovely contrast from the rusted Corten surface.
    The fused glass has the jewel like quality of rain drops when the sun shines through them.
