Elysium means ‘a state of Bliss’, this sculpture is inspired by the dream state, that brief moment between dreaming and waking when the world is perfect and the veil between our hopes and dreams is so thin it feels like reality. I imagine her placed by water, dreaming as she dries after a swim. Curled and contented in the sun.

About this sculpture:
This sculpture is part of a series of sculptures monuments Titled ‘Unwanted Monuments’.
On a site visit to Kingston, with this sculpture in mind, I liked the idea of it sitting it outside a prominent building, in this case the Market House and at the back, so it can be discovered. I imagined the sculpture being just off the entrance, almost like the positioning of a children’s coin operated ride outside a shop.

The sculpture encourages to viewer to touch and even sit on. The significance of using a goat in this sculpture relates to the historical use of goats in imagery and art, as gods, devils and a symbol of endurance. As an animal it lives and survives in so many different environments and has adapted to survive from deserts to mountains and much more.
Having grown up in Surrey, Kingston was always a place of different sensations, from the size as a young child, to an edgy music scene as a teenagerto working in a dry cleaners as my first proper job and the growth of a modern town with The Bental Centre.
As its a monument I felt it really had to be in a traditional material, so bronze was the best choice. The goat stands proudly and strong, almost military, the cone I hope removes the seriousness of the Goat and makes it more accessibly to the viewer and has a relationship with modern life.

Alamat, is an interpretation of a well-known Philippine legend: The Origin of the Philippine Islands.
In the beginning, there existed only the boundless sky (Langit), the tranquil sea (Dagat) and, between them, the fickle wind (Hangin) in the form of a bird.
One day the bird grew weary and thought of a way to amuse itself by cunningly pitting the sea against the sky. In her agitated state, the sea surged, crashing her waves against the sky. In defence, the sky hurled down rocks to supress the waves, eventually calming the sea.
The bird, gratified, smugly perched on the rocks which eventually formed the Philippine Islands.

This piece is inspired by the poem “Siren Song” by Margaret Atwood.
The poem addresses gender roles, seduction and vanity.
This is the one song everyone
would like to learn: the song
that is irresistible:
the song that forces men
to leap overboard in squadrons
even though they see the beached skulls
the song nobody knows
because anyone who has heard it
is dead, and the others can't remember.
Shall I tell you the secret
and if I do, will you get me
out of this bird suit?
I don't enjoy it here
squatting on this island
looking picturesque and mythical
with these two feathery maniacs,
I don't enjoy singing
this trio, fatal and valuable.
I will tell the secret to you,
to you, only to you.
Come closer. This song
is a cry for help: Help me!
Only you, only you can,
you are unique
at last. Alas
it is a boring song
but it works every time.

In ancient Greek, 'Coralia' means "Maiden" and in Latin it means "Of Coral". The sculpture was inspired by the two translations.

£6,700 in bronze resin or £34,000 in bronze (inc. VAT)
This large outdoor wildlife sculpture of a running hare, is perfect for the end of a garden or perched on top of a hill, to be seen at every angle. It will make you smile every time you see it in your garden!
I have tried to capture a hare, as it moves around the corner, and break-neck speed. This can be cast in resin, and coloured in a patina of your choice, or it can be in a more traditional bronze resin as a limited edition of 48. It can also be cast as a bronze as a limited edition of 9 in a patina of your choice.
ELECTRIC BLUE HARE – GARDEN RUNNING HARE
This bronze wildlife sculpture came to me after I did a couple of smaller hare sculptures. I did not want to be realistic, but more an idea of ‘hare’. The fact that I used scrim and plaster to build the sculpture really helped as I could not get too embroiled in detail!
Hares are very discreet wildlife animals…hardly to be seen by the human eye. They run fast, at speeds of about 45 miles per hour, making them the fastest wild mammal in the UK. What is more, they can speed up and slow down in seconds, hence why they have the ability to change direction incredibly quickly.
So I wanted to show a hare doing just that – twisting around a corner fast. I made it absolutely vast in order to create a statement piece for the garden. The ears are exaggerated and so are the long legs and big paws. The movement in the body is accentuated by the way in which I have layered the scrim and plaster. This creates strong gestural strokes. Whilst I had the hare sculpture cast with an electric blue patination, you could have a more traditional finish like foundry bronze or a colour of your choice. It can also be cast in iron (rust colour). As a bronze, it is produced as a limited edition of 9.
This wildlife sculpture of a larger than life hare looks amazing at the end of a long vista or on top of a slight hill or in the middle of a park. The sculpture holds its own space.
William Dartmouth has purchased one of these hares and says: “I am delighted with Jane’s charismatic sculpture of a quintuple life-size hare in electric-blue resin. The sculpture adorns the approach to The House and is both artistically brilliant and fun. My teenage son thinks so too.”
This sculpture can be cast in bronze as a limited edition of 9 or in bronze resin as a limited edition of 48. In all cases, it can be patinated to order.
