Small Bronze Bust, Cold Cast Bronze (bronze resin) white patina
Small Bronze Bust
A celebrated small work by Ed Elliott that perfectly captures the energy and his development of a specific traditional Japanese Art of wood preservation. His dedication and practice of this process has created a visual language through a prolific body of work, opening the door to our familiarity and attraction to the organic material of wood.
Celebrating the imperfections and vulnerability of wood, there are a selection of wooden originals that have been meticulously cast into bronze, creating a paradox between the impermanence of wood and the permanence of bronze. Also see the piece ‘Resilience’ in the Ed Elliott Bronze Collection.

This series of work explores our connection to things once precious, but now forgotten or lost. Consider the absolute obsession over an object we so often experience as children – a significant toy, teddy or doll. Objects once deeply cherished are all too soon cast aside, left alone, forgotten or lost. Time passes, memories fade, but these objects sometimes remain, each with a story to tell.
This work explores the moment when you are reunited with an object of old, that can often take you back to a place and time, a key to the past. Although a lot may have changed, the door to memory swings open, the past becomes the present and you see again with the purity of childhood.

Before I saw an otter with my own eyes, my Mum and Dad described with great delight their first sighting of an otter in the Isle of Skye which ran across the road in front of them proudly carrying a freshly caught fish, an image which I decided to capture in ‘Catch of the Day’.

Alabaster is a soft, translucent stone that has been used for centuries to create beautiful works of art. Its smooth surface and delicate coloration make it a popular material for carving, and it has been used to create everything from sculptures to jewelry
Pippa Unwin: Winter Hare – Most winters, I take part in International Snow Carving Competitions as captain of the GB snow carving team. We have been to Breckenridge several times and been lucky enough to have seen some of the local wildlife – a fox, moose and a little Snow Hare. This white Alabaster with the traces of black reminded me of the hares, so I felt I had to carve one.
