Nature is the primary concern of Matt Duke’s art work. Each of his pieces demonstrate a relationship between form and shape. There is an aesthetic beauty in the simplicity of the sculpture, which depends heavily on line and colour and evokes a moment in time captured perfectly in the fascinating medium of bronze. His twenty years experience in the rare skill of patination is evident in the bold and vibrant palette only permitted to this metal. Such hues and tones would not be successful on pieces crowded by texture, but thanks to the contemporary and delicate surface, produced with skilfully carved sharp lines and curved body, the spectrum brings personality and life to each work.

    About the Artist

-‘ A lifelong passion for art and sculpture together with his practical nature led Joseph to take up an apprenticeship in stone masonry. Joe trained as a stone mason at York College where he learnt the craft to an advanced level. This gave him the ability to create striking stone pieces in marble and limestone. Joe also produces bronze sculpture using the ancient lost wax technique. Josephs studio is based in Pateley Bridge near Harrogate North Yorkshire.’

  • Kinetic Study 20 by Edward Willis – £485

Kinetic Study 20 by Edward Willis – £485

    About the sculpture
This piece is one in a series that is about contrast and duality. The very solid, grounded and definite figure of the resin base gives support to the more ephemeral, complicated and less certain mobile structure. The two parts give sense and purpose to each other, perhaps in the way that two people might, or even in the way two facets of an individual personality might.
    About the artist
Now living and working in Bath, Edward has a degree in philosophy from Bristol University and in his kinetic sculptures he explores ideas of fragility and strength as well as balance and resolution. Drawing inspiration from the natural world and the human figure, his work is often suggestive of botanical or skeletal structures. The elegant, fluid forms express a sense of harmony and rhythmic energy, coupled with a feeling of tranquil equilibrium.
