Masoud Akhavanjam is an Iranian sculptor working in mirror polished stainless steel and bronze. His artworks, both figurative and abstract, are conceived as a commentary on society and deal with paradoxical themes such as good and evil, the power of the mind over brute force and the constant struggle for a harmonic coexistence. His passion for the materiality of objects and in particular stainless steel commenced when he began assisting at his father’s manufacturing company for household appliances in 1997.
Using his in-depth knowledge of the scientific properties of metal, Akhavanjam creates artworks ranging in scale from intimate domestic pieces to monumental works, balancing the inherent strength of the material with the delicacy of the cast form.

  • Spitfire by Richard Cresswell – £18,000

Spitfire by Richard Cresswell – £18,000

    Spitfire

    £18,000

    3.4 h x 2.2 x 0.2

My love affair with the shape of Spitfire started many years ago when as a teenager I used to go to air displays.
There would always be a Spitfire there and when it took to the skies the pilot would always make a few low passes with the plane seemingly standing on a wing tip as it carved an ark in the sky showing the elliptical outline of the wing against a cloudless sky making it the most beautiful flying machine I ever saw. That shape has stayed with me ever since and it is that shape which now as a sculptor I can interpret into Spitfire.
As the pilots did standing the plane on a wing tip to display it, I also do the profile changing as the wind turns the work to face a different direction. The fuselage is a sleek aerodynamic shape to add context to the piece and the mirror polished metal is my nod to the original design when it was a racing seaplane designed to win the Schneider Trophy.

Swimmer Figure by Michael Long – £16,500

    Swimmer Figure

    £16,500

    half-life sized

    Bronze

She is a half-life sized figure cast in bronze and is of a limited edition of 9.

Mikes primarily interested in showing of the female form as strong and sensual. As with all his work a huge amount of I time is spent on research for each piece. Anatomical detail is of great importance as musculature and proportion are what are at the centre of what motivates him.

The free movement of swimmers and divers provide a wealth of inspiration and he has applied this to both lift the figure but at the same time give the impression of it being at the bottom of a dive ready to glide forward seamlessly.

As with all Mike’s sculptures in a limited edition each is cast to order, and some details can be changed, or a different patina applied making every sculpture very unique.

  • Male Dancer by Michael Long – £16,500

Male Dancer by Michael Long – £16,500

    Male Dancer Figure

    £16,500

    half-life size

    Bronze

He is a half-life size figure cast in bronze and is of a very limited edition of 9.

Mike’s uppermost interest is in portraying figures in a dynamic muscular pose. A huge amount of research goes into each sculpture particularly anatomical detail to make them as near as to real life as possible. Particular attention is detailed in the sculpture to the muscular skeletal formation which is based on athletes and dancers. He manages to capture the sensuality and strength of the dancers and athletes; however, they are not intended to be portraits in their own right.

The Male dancer sculpture is intended to be enjoyed both when viewed close up when small details can be appreciated as well as from a distance when the whole sculpture can be as a silhouette, thus making it ideal as a garden feature or perhaps as the centre piece of a large conservatory.

As with all Mike’s sculptures in a limited Edition each is cast to order, and some details can
be changed, or a different patina applied making every sculpture very unique.
