There seems to be a constant narrative in the mind. An incessant chitter chatter like machines. Time spent worrying about the future or reflecting on the past. Rather than focusing on the present moment which after all, is the only moment that truly exists other than in our minds.
This sculpture was made from the parts of time pieces and is meant to represent time wasted on our ‘internal dialogue’ at the expense of focusing on the present moment.
Also available in Jesmonite

“pain is the shell of our knowledge and understanding. Just as the stone of the fruit must break for it’s heart to stand in the sun, so must we experience pain”
– Kahlil Gibran

“Ligaya is the word for “joy” in the Philippine language. The sculpture portrays a figure that is rapt with joy: a lightness of being, a heart full of gratitude in knowing you are loved. The folds of the cloth in the sculpture have been gilt in yellow (gold), the colour associated with joy.”

I sculpted the ‘Miranda’ Girl sculpture from Shakespeare’s ‘Tempest’ for a pond located in a Girls School, in Niagra, Canada. She represents the joy and innocence of youth and was designed to draw the viewer forward into her special world. I really enjoyed sculpting her and at the time of writing the Bronze Resin edition is almost sold out.

‘Hole’ is part of one of Ed Elliott’s oldest series of work, originally exploring loss and what that can mean. The first works began removing holes from a series of objects, resulting in them loosing their function. A glass no longer held water or wine. A dictionary lost a collection of words. As soon as this was applied to the figure, a very obvious aesthetic it changed the work completely. There has been a series of figurative works in this series developing a narrative of what it feels like to have something missing and what happens with that void over time.
This specific piece stated life as a wooden original (sold to a private collection) and the cast edition has translated beautifully with a striking detail.

‘Bound’ is part of an ongoing series of work by Ed Elliott, exploring the importance of what it is to be restricted, to realise what it feels like to be free. The figurative form, often carved in a natural material like wood, which has innate movement, meaning it will crack and warp slightly over time, it tightly wrapped or ‘bound’ with a flexible strength. The firm yet subtle bind of the rope, constricting the splitting figure in wood creates an interesting material conversation.
The work has been described as a representation for the plight of Man, from natural beginnings, forced into unnatural habitats and restricted freedom through societal pressures. The symbolic nature of this work can of course inspire many interpretations.
– The wooden original is now SOLD OUT. Similar works are available to order –
