“I sculpted the original clay artwork at the beginning of Spring when I was most craving the summer sunshine, I wanted the sculpture to portray the delightful feeling of sun rays warming your skin. Once complete and on display, it was clear that the expression of calm appreciation portrayed is equally as charming in the rain as it is in the sun, adding a wonderful, spontaneous dimension to the sculpture.” – Laura Jane Wylder

“Named after my Grandfather, Macmorland is a towering Iberian breed, based on a beautiful Breyer Model designed by Brigitte Eberl. His muscular, powerful stance was built up over 4 months until a calm and confident gaze was achieved. His form is built from steel wire and reaches 2.2m in height.
Obsessed with horses from a young age and fortunate to spend a lot of time around them, creating a larger-than-life sculpture of one of my favourite horse breeds occupied an entire gorgeous summer in 2019. Many horses in art are depicted in severe and facially-twisted emotions, a calm yet expressive nature was my aim with this piece.” – Connie Adam

Icarus wanted to explore the freedom and joy of flight so fully that he ignored his father’s warnings. He flew too high and too close to the sun that the wax on his wings melted, the feathers burned and he came crashing down; but not before he managed to experience the freedom and exhilaration of the flight.
Icarus Ascending II can be seen as the spiritual aspect of Icarus, after the death of the mortal body now able to be completely free to ascend into the spiritual realms.
Never regret thy fall O Icarus of the fearless flight, For the greatest tragedy of them all Is to never to feel the burning light.
– Oscar Wilde

“Life is a constant ebb and flow, waves come and go. There is comfort in the knowledge that nothing lasts forever and is constantly changing: the rain may drench us cold but soon after, the sun will come out to warm us.” – EJ Kemp

“This sculpture was first commissioned as a present for a husband’s 70th birthday. The client wanted a garden sculpture to go by the pond, with a sense of purpose and movement. They chose the name Daphne for the sculpture, inspired by Greek mythology: Daphne was a naiad, a water nymph, who was greatly loved by Apollo.” – EJ Kemp
