A scaled down version of ‘Kinetic Seed Sculpture’, ‘Sycamore Seed Sculpture’ has all the dynamic movement of my larger piece but on a scale to suite a smaller garden. Sycamore Seed Sculpture is now in it’s Second Edition, the new edition has a larger more detailed Wing. Second Edition of 25.
This work is a twofold homage to nature; the seed form and the wind. In the natural world, the two work in perfect harmony, the seed having evolved over millions of years into a finely tuned wing.
This harmony is present throughout nature, it is harmony that we humans strive for, and sometimes struggle to find. I hope that my sculpture is a fascinating and peaceful work that points towards a simpler relationship with the world.
Weathering Steel (cor-ten) is a steel alloy which acquires a stable, rust-like appearance over time. It’s surface has a matt textured finish with a wonderful depth of colour which changes from a light orange to a deep purple over the decades.
Galvanised Steel with a mordent finish leaves a soft textured matt surface with a wonderfully interesting pewter/lead colouring that will darken when wet.

The female figure here is quiet and contemplative. This sculpture is a gentle piece of work and was very enjoyable to create. This piece of sculpture was originally made out of plaster which meant that I could get the wonderfully smooth finish that is shown. The idea for this artwork came form seeing a small rounded stone that suggested a crouching form.

180cm high on frame 125cm x 160cm Balloon 35cm diameter
£2600
The Expedition consists of two mice off to outer Mongolia hunting for famed Yak cheese. They look excited as they set off but I fear they may be disappointed. They misheard the explorer talking about the cheese in outer Mongolia. What he actually said was that the cheese he had tasted was YUK cheese. The balloon is hooked on a stainless steel sprung rod so it can move up and down and side to side a little in the breeze.

Pete Rogers: “Snaptime with a view is a play on the famous steeplejacks on a girder picture called ‘High Tea’. It consists of two mice on a girder having their snap. Not sure what the voluble, cheese holding, mouse is saying, but the other one drinking tea looks a bit thoughtful, bored or worried! The Faux cables from a crane high above are actually hooked onto a springy frame and can dance a bit in the breeze.

The mice on a flying saucer are checking out a new planet. There is a technological dichotomy in that the mice on the high tech flying saucer are using a telescope to scan the planet and a butterfly net to sample the air. The mouse commander under the plastic dome is using a steering wheel. The plastic dome can be easily lifted off to clean or remove condensation. The spaceship balances on a flexible wand and can move up and down in the breeze as well as rotate 360 degrees.
The spaceship weighs 10Kg
