Star Walk
Simon Hayes
Mild Steel
230 x 306 x 54 cm
Edition 1/4
”Starwalk” encapsulates the intricacies of life’s journey, mirroring the organic flow of human experience through a pathway that twists and turns towards the stars. This sculpture serves as a tangible representation of the inherent unpredictability of our paths, reminding viewers that growth, exploration, and fulfilment often arise from embacing the twists and turns of our individual trajectories. As each curve beckons towards the celestial realm above, “Starwalk” invites contemplation on the beauty found in life’s meandering routes, emphasising that true fulfilment lies not in reaching a predetermined destination, but in the richness of the journey itself.
Kildare based artist Simon Hayes works primarily in steel. Pushing the limits of what he can do with steel in a Man vs. Steel relationship which serves him to push forward. Flexing that tenuous relationship is where the soul and drama come through in the work.
But there is always more. The visual language begins with a thoughtful inspiration he then questions, advances to sketching the form, and then letting it flow and incubate for however long it needs until the steel and artist work it out in the studio.
Scale, tools, flow and form drive him to the conclusions you see in the private and public installations you see today.
