Step into the world of African artistry! Our Shona Stone Sculpting Workshop offers a rare chance to learn the ancient craft of Shona stone carving from a Zimbabwean artisan. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, this workshop is designed for all levels.
What is Shona Stone Carving?
Shona sculpture is one of the most renowned artistic traditions in Africa, originating from the Shona people of Zimbabwe. Carved from soapstone, verdite, and other natural stones, these sculptures often reflect the spiritual beliefs, stories, and everyday life of the Shona culture. Known for their expressive forms and smooth finishes, Shona sculptures evoke powerful emotions, connecting the viewer with both the artist’s intentions and the rich history of the land.
