The Mussel sculpture is a maquette for a commissioned sculpture that is sited in Musselburgh, which is 5 miles of SE of Edinburgh.
The Mussel Sculpture’s base is 40cm square and the total height of the work is 103cm.
Made out of stainless steel with bronze infill to the barnacles visible on the image to the left.

Description of commission, including site location of final piece: “This work was commissioned by the local authority for siting as
a gateway sculpture on the route into the town from Edinburgh.
The work is 3.8m high and made out of stainless steel and bronze. the side facing the sea is mirror polished to reflect the sea, sky and whoever is standing in front of it.
