Cotswold Sculpture Park

Lynn Baxter

Lynn is a sculptor, painter and ceramicist, now living and working near Frome. Whilst her practice and methodology are wide, her works display an overriding interest in abstraction. A fascination with line and volume and the spirit of play is a key feature.

Her larger-scale steel sculptures make a statement in any context, be it a private garden, corporate foyer or gallery. They are fabricated to be happy out of doors, fitting both formal landscapes and more intimate garden settings. Sometimes they are made in stainless steel so that they mirror elements of their setting through their polished reflective surfaces.

Her indoor sculptures are of metal, ceramics, or wood, most recently using found materials which tell of a previous life, the surfaces enhanced with pigments. These works combine her enjoyment of painting with her interest in three-dimensional art.

Lynn’s Career has spanned theatre, publishing, public art commissioning and arts management. She has been awarded Artist-in-Residencies at Yorkshire Sculpture Park – and Cromarty, where dolphins, life on the land and the industrial maritime meet so poetically.
