  • Aviator by Liam Ball – £2,450

Aviator by Liam Ball – £2,450

    Sea oak, mahogany, brass

Full of character and nostalgic charm, this handcrafted sculpture captures the spirit of early aviation. A stylised pilot sits proudly at the controls of a classic propeller aircraft, its bold red wings and distressed finish evoking the romance of bygone air races and daring flights.

Expertly constructed from oak and mahogany driftwood, the piece combines natural materials with finely worked metal details—from the riveted engine casing to the spinning propeller—creating a rich interplay of texture and craftsmanship. The weathered patina enhances its sense of history and authenticity.

Both whimsical and skilfully made, Vintage Aviator is a celebration of adventure, imagination, and the golden age of flight.

This striking piece is both sculpture and seating, combining artistic form with practical function. A broad, angular plane of warm-toned wood creates a generous bench surface, appearing to tilt and hover as it rests upon a softly rounded base.

The design plays with the idea of equilibrium — the sharply defined timber contrasts with the smooth, organic support beneath, creating a sense of tension that is carefully resolved through balance. Despite its dynamic form, the bench offers a stable and inviting place to sit.

Set within the landscape, Balance encourages interaction, inviting visitors to pause, rest and become part of the artwork itself — a thoughtful meeting point between design, sculpture and everyday use.

This piece was made during the festival of the summer solstice.

“Oak is the tree of the solstice, its leaves are used for crowns and its wood for ceremonial fires. This is a time of hope and beginnings, at a time when the earth rewards us with its bounty. Let’s make sure we treat mother earth with love.” – Glen Farrelly

“My fascination with ancient cup and ring marks continues. These markings can be found carved into stone across the world but we are still no closer to having a definitive answer what they mean. One suggestion is they marked a specific date by mapping the stars.” – Glen Farrelly
