“The Maja sculptures are a series dedicated to my late mother. Striking, elegant, tall forms with a delicate smooth polish, with an inner calm reminiscent of a beautiful woman. These sculptures have a void carved centrally representing the hole left behind when someone has passed. Her memory lives on through these beautiful sculptures.” – Hamish Holman

“The ‘Good vibrations’ series are sculptures that come from a place of the unknown. I have always been drawn to complex forms and the process of not understanding how a particular stone sculpture is made. I set myself the challenge of trying to overcome this non-understanding and slowly the form of good vibrations appeared. The sculptures are carved from a cube, with three interconnecting sides making up the six sides. The form appears fluid and geometric, with the sculpture changing form as it is walked around and viewed from different angles. Positioned on an axis to allow the viewer to see how the light shines through the stone, creating an everchanging appearance. Looking through stone has always excited me as the core is rarely seen in a sculpture, and this has become a theme in my work. Light plays a part in highlighting the delicacy and strength of the stone, converging dynamic abstract profiles, with simple shapes and contours.” – Hamish Holman

A pair made out of Portoro Marble Each piece is 30cm x 37cm x 19cm
Portoro is a stunning rare Italian marble, which has so far only been found in one small area on the west coast of Italy. There are difficulties quarrying this marble as it is found below the sea bed.
This sculpture was inspired by ammonite fossils that can be found hidden inside nodules, that when cracked open reveal the fossil within.
