Serenity was originally sculpted in clay in September 2019 in Devon, just before the outbreak of the pandemic. My model Izzy was relaxing during a break in the session, and we were talking about the joys of new motherhood. The waiting for this much anticipated little bundle and Izzy glanced downward for a second reminiscing about that moment she held her baby for the first time. Her expression was so beautiful, so serene. Timeless. I had to capture it. The intense and overwhelming love you feel, the unpreparedness and the joy. In all the chaos of birth I wanted to depict that serene moment of a new mother gazing down with such love.
Selected as a finalist for the Lady Petchy Sculpture Prize 2021, this sculpture’s original clay bust will be on exhibit in central London for the summer season 2022.
The bronze edition is cast in foundry bronze and mounted on a solid slate plinth. Serenity is a short run limited edition and is available in a range of patina finishes to suit your interior style or outside space. Other bases including bronze are available, as are various garden plinths to order for an additional fee.

Keziah Burt’s description on the piece: ‘Climbing the walls is a highly personal piece. Inspired by my nightly struggle to find illusive sleep. It depicts four figures gripping, twisting and flexing across the bed like panels, in an effort to ease the tension in their bodies. Appearing in an almost dream like dance. It has rhythm and movement the figures poised at the very edges of their bodily reach finding a moment of peace.
I have a genetic condition called HEDS (hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) essentially, I struggle with joint and muscle pain every day. Night-time is the hardest. I move around contorting myself trying to stretch and release my muscles. I believe art should always come from a place of honesty, and sometimes of pain. I find it very comforting that we are able to find beauty in the such unusual places.
The bronze edition is cast in foundry bronze and mounted on a welded steel garden panel. Which is left to weather in the elements and creates a wonderful colour contrast with the green moss-like colour of the patina.
‘Climbing the walls’ is a limited edition and is available in a range of patina finishes to suit your interior style or outside space. Other interior wall mountings are available including a copper mount /frame.

– This piece was inspired by walks in the woods – the beauty in the sound of the wind and birds singing. It also has an environmental message, as there is evidence that trees communicate to each other though mycelium underground, we need to look after our trees and ancient woodlands not only for our own future but the myriad of flora, fauna and funga they support.
