This sculpture is Hamish’s interpretation of a Jurassic ammonite fossil. The spiral shape of the fossilised shell is horn-like, and the term ammonite refers to the Egyptian god Ammon who wore the coiled horns of a ram.

Mankind has always had a fascination with the past. One can imagine early man might have stared with the same awe at these fossils, hundreds of millions of years old – one of the first forms of art appreciation. Hamish wanted to create a contemporary sculpture that also conveys a sense of the timeless beauty of these fossils.

Hamish has used a number of techniques to produce both form and texture. The cracks look random, but in fact have been carefully controlled by the construction of the armature. After sculpting in clay, Hamish then used a gas torch to burn the surface at high temperature. The result is the cracking, which contrasts with the geometrically precise tight ribs of the fossil.

Ammonite Jurassic Cracked Stainless Steel 2018 is Hamish’s first sculpture cast by Lockbund Foundry into stainless steel, using the newly commissioned induction tilt furnace. The highlights have been taken to a mirror polished finish. It would look equally striking in both a country and urban environment and works both indoors and outside. It can be fitted to work as a water fountain. It is also available in bronze.

The angular lines of the plinth complement the organic natural forms of the ammonite. The core ten steel plinth is designed to rust on the surface. It is also possible to supply the sculpture on alternative plinths – IE stone or oak.

“Otters are another of my favourite subjects. I have such a passion for otters that my youngster daughter is named Otterlie! Humans have always felt a bond with these intelligent animals. They appear in the folklore and mythology of many different cultures including Norse, Asian and Native American.

Henry Williamson’s famous book Tarka the Otter (1927) and Gavin Maxwell’s Ring of Bright Water (1960) have become much-loved classics. The award-winning 2024 documentary Billy and Molly: An Otter Love Story by Charlie Hamilton James is a more recent true story about one man’s relationship with a wild otter on Shetland.” – Hamish MacKie

  • Vessell by Ed Elliott – £15,000

Vessell by Ed Elliott – £15,000

Wooden Original, unique one-off – White Patina

Sphere made by hand and eye with no measuring equipment

    Approx 80cm sphere

Carved from Wellingtonia wood, Vessel is a striking spherical form that celebrates the natural beauty and history of the material. The flowing grain patterns ripple across the surface like contour lines, revealing the life of the tree within the sculpture. Carefully carved openings and a central hollow create a sense of depth and balance, inviting light and shadow to move through the piece.

Finished using the traditional Yakisugi charring technique and a pale lime patina, the work highlights the wood’s rich textures while preserving and strengthening its surface. Both architectural and organic, the sculpture explores ideas of containment, space, and the quiet power of natural form.

  • Retreat by Ed Elliott – £15,000

Retreat by Ed Elliott – £15,000

    Original piece

    English Oak Heartwood, Bronze, Stone

    Plinth: 40cm x 40cm x 100cm

    Piece: 85cm X 30cm X 35cm

    Overall height installed: 185cm

Carved from English oak, Retreat is a powerful meditation on introspection and inner landscape. The serene, closed-eyed face suggests quiet contemplation, its surface marked with expressive carving that follows the natural grain and fractures of the wood.

At the back of the sculpture, the head opens to reveal a hidden world: a miniature woodland scene with delicate trees, stones and a small shelter nestled within. This intimate interior creates a poetic contrast between the calm exterior and the sanctuary within, inviting viewers to reflect on solitude, memory and the spaces we retreat to in our minds.

Blending traditional wood carving with carefully placed bronze and stone elements, the piece celebrates both the natural character of the material and the idea of the human mind as a place of refuge and imagination.

  • Legend of the Lough by Eamonn Higgins – £12,000

Legend of the Lough by Eamonn Higgins – £12,000

    Bronze

    Lifesize horse head

Legend of the Lough was inspired by a commission I received from the arts council under the Re-Imaging Arts Program. The sculpture celebrates the original folktale of the creation of Lough Neagh, where a Horse God of the Tuatha de Danann Eochu let his horse rest in a valley  in the middle of Ulster. The horse, which was a magical horse of the sea(think of the Guinness ad from the 90s) , proceeded to dissolve and flood the valley.” – Eamonn Higgins

    Edition of 9

    Bronze on a marble base

    97cm h x 44cm W x 20cm D

Mike specializes in creating sculptures of dancers, athletes, figures in motion, and nudes. His work is primarily modelled in clay or Chavant before being cast in bronze, often in small editions or as one-of-a-kind pieces. During the casting process, particularly at the wax stage, he often alters small details like clothing, making each piece unique. Mike’s deep passion for human anatomy plays a central role in his process, and each sculpture requires extensive research to ensure anatomical accuracy. A significant source of inspiration for his evocative works comes from his experiences with the London Contemporary Dance and Ballet Rambert, which is reflected in the grace and beauty of his traditional figurative sculptures.

This woman embodies strength, and is well rooted to the ground; she feels none of the female vices like self-doubt, fear, guilt or hesitancy. Neither does she follow the most recent fashions, adhere to a diet , nor does she torture herself with  shame or self-consciousness.

She faces the world head on, yet she is neither dynamic/expansive or aggressive: she rests in herself
