The story behind the piece:
Blaze is a collaboration from Dorset artists Ted Edley (Dorset Copperfish) and the Glass artists Ian Godfrey & Gail Boothman from the Galiani Glass Studio. Working together they have created this amazing sculpture that evokes the warmth and heat of fire. The sculpture is designed to capture the sun and ignite the raging flames within. The glass comprises of almost 200 hand-cut pieces of glass layered to give an intertwining effect of the flames. While the copper cups the flames within and has been given a patinated finish to evoke the rich reds and oranges of heat.
