    Bryn Parry OBE

Bryn began to cartoon while serving in the Army and, after ten years in various parts of the world, he decided to resign and try his luck as a cartoonist and picture framer. In 1985, returning from teaching jungle warfare in Australia, he began his business in a damp cellar in Wiltshire. Together with his wife Emma, he developed his reputation as a cartoonist, author and gift product designer and his ‘doodles’ hang in many of the finest loos in the countryside. His best selling books include 101 Shooting Excuses, Mad Dogs and Englishmen and Sex in the Country.

In 2007 Bryn and Emma visited wounded soldiers in hospital and, profoundly moved, they founded the charity, Help for Heroes. For the next nine years, Bryn’s cartooning ‘took a sabbatical’ as he ran H4H. Finally, in 2016, he was able to step down as CEO and return to his drawing desk in a studio near his cottage.

In 2017 Bryn was given a sculpture course as a birthday present from his family and immediately loved this new medium. Initially he focused on portrait commissions , including some of soldiers with facial injuries (His piece ‘Looking forward’ is on exhibition at the National Army Museum) before sculpting several whimsical pieces he calls, ‘cartoons in bronze’ which have proved extremely popular.

His most recent piece, on display at the Cotswold Sculpture Park, is his Barn Owl and vole, inspired by a client who wanted an owl to haunt a glade in his beautiful Northumbrian garden.

  • The Small Three Riders by Marie Ackers – £8,500

The Small Three Riders by Marie Ackers – £8,500

    Three Riders on base

    Bronze
limited edition of 8 +2 artist copies
    Size 60 cm x32 cm x 15 cm

Initially inspired by the old master and “French Animalier”, french artist Marie Ackers has gone beyond realism and tradition to capture a contemporary interpretation of animals. In her  work, Marie deconstruct the movements, trip down to pure lines, simplify the shapes and identify the dynamic and the rhythms of the lines to produce contemporary and distinctively elegant sculpture inextricably associated with but yet completely independent of reality.

  • Glen Farrelly RCA

    Glen Farrelly RCA

    Glen Farrelly

Glen trained at the renowned Camberwell College of Arts in London, studying for a BA (Hons) fine arts degree in ceramics. He then went on to teach Art at one of the top independent schools in London where he was Head of Art.
After 20 years of teaching he moved to California, Here he was exposed to devastating wildfires that almost destroyed his home. Later, when the fires had been declared safe, he returned to his home and walked the fire ravaged sites collecting remnants of scorched and discarded wood.
Changing artistic direction and materials Glen began carving and sculpting the burnt wood uncovering their beauty, showing their story, and reassembling to find their future worth.

Glen’s  work has been displayed in exhibitions throughout California, Kuwait, Japan and he is currently showing his work in London,  Wales and Shropshire.

Now living in North Wales, he continues to work with reclaimed and storm fallen timber using an ancient Japanese technique called ‘Yakisugi’. This method preserves the wood – Yaki means to heat with fire, and sugi is cypress. By slightly charring the surface of the wood without combusting the whole piece, the wood becomes water-proof through the carbonisation and is thus more durable. It also protects against insects, as well as making the wood fire retardant. All Glen’s work is sustainable and he only uses natural materials.

    Bryn Parry on this sculpture:
This is my most recent sculpture. A client asked for a barn owl to place in a glade in his garden where it will stand out against a backdrop of dark trees. The little vole will be sitting on a separate stone. The owl has been given a beautiful patina by master patinator Matt Duke at Talos fine art foundry.

  • Composition by Paul Burton – £890

Composition by Paul Burton – £890

    “Composition”
    Dimensions : 65 (H) x 50 (W)
    Slate and Glass

Paul Burton had a long and successful global career in the mining supply industry where he experienced so many locations, people and cultures. Following his retirement in 2017 Paul has returned and now concentrating full time on his first love of contemporary art, in particular sculpture. His return to art is influenced by his extensive experiences living and working around the world in the mineral extraction industries, in so many diverse places ranging from the Gobi Desert to the frozen wastes of the Arctic Circle.

His unique steel, slate and glass creations are inspired by the earth’s resources and look to incorporate his unique “Earthlight” sculpture creations back into the landscape.

This Earthlight range of work is Paul’s observation and statement on where we are in the conflicting debates on the resource management of our planet.  These sculptures placed in the landscape with an aspect to the rising or setting sun are powerful visions. Their intent is to question the western environmentalist paradigm.. A qualified observation is that our world would be a very different place to live without the mineral extraction that has contributed to our modern lives. Everything we consume is from the earth (mined, grown or from the ocean). However this industrialisation and modernism has been historically reckless with no real consideration of the environment.

For example, without mining there would be no trains, planes, automobiles, Internet, computers, phones, no cancer scanners or man on the moon, but it has come at a cost. These Earthlight pieces make a statement, They are from the earth and the composition is made up of, slate, silica, steel, lead, crystal et al. They display the earth’s bounty in a beautiful and powerful way, but at the same time providing a portal through them for us to consider the impact on the environment.
